OTHER REASONS TO BECOME A SOCCER REFEREE!
People who love soccer can help the game by becoming a referee. If there were no referees, there would be no game.
Refereeing is Responsible, Challenging and Satisfying, and will give you...
- Job Experience
- Communication skills
- Increased confidence
- People-management skills
- Decision making skills under mental & physical pressure
- College scholarship eligibility
Re-certification of existing referees is accomplished by an online test found here: http://www.ntxsoccer.org/referee/gradesandclinic.aspx
Initial certification as a referee is accomplished by successfully completing an online review of basic rules and either a 5 hour (Grade 9: U8 and below games, min age 12) or 8 hour (Grade 8: U14 and below games, min age 13) clinic. Local clinics are scheduled on weekends during January and February. Clinic info & registration can be found here:
Academy soccer is the best way for motivated, advanced players U6-U10 to improve their skills and compete at a higher level. We offer Open Practice sessions all summer long on Saturday mornings, and we have both Skills Development and a full Competitive Academy team option every Fall & Spring season. We play our games on Sundays, so as not to conflict with Recreational soccer. In fact, we heavily discount Recreational soccer fees for players in both programs (see above). There’s more information on our Evolution Home page including fees and registration links.
Please contact Tommy Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think your player is ready to take the next step!EVOLUTION COMPETITIVE (U11 and up)
Competitive soccer is for U11+ players who are invited each year based on OPEN PRACTICES that are held throughout JUNE, with formal tryouts held in July. Those who earn a much-coveted spot on one of our Evolurtion Select teams will compete in one of the area Premier leagues for 2014-2015. For more information including our June OPEN PRACTICES and our JULY TRYOUTS, see the Evolution Home page or contact our Academy and Select Director, Tommy Johnson at Academy@ColleyvilleSoccer.net.
